So What?
It is easy to drift with the current, but it is difficult to return against the stream. Our salvation is a “great salvation,” purchased at a great price. It brings with it great promises and blessings, and it leads to a great inheritance in glory. How can we neglect it?

Regarding angels’ specific function, there are at least four:
1) Angels continuously worship and praise the God they serve.

2) Angels communicate God’s message to man.

3) Angels minister to believers.
Psalm 34:7 Psalm 91:11, 12 Acts 5:19; 12:6–11 Luke 15:10 1 Corinthians 11:10 Luke 16:22
4) Angels will be God’s agents in the final earthly judgments and Second Coming.

AND PEOPLE TO ACCOMPLISH HIS ULTIMATE PLAN.
Proverbs 16:5
- WAITING ON GOD MEANS WAITING ON HIM TO PUT
THINGS TOGETHER THE WAY HE WANTS THEM TO BE
(ESTHER 7:1-10).

- WHEN GOD IS READY TO MOVE, HE CAN REVERSE THE
MOST IRREVERSIBLE CIRCUMSTANCES (8:1–17).
Proverbs 13:22, James 4:2, Romans 15:13
God doesn’t always give this kind of a “happy ending” to everybody’s story. Today, not all faithful Christians are promoted and given special honors. God hasn’t promised that we’ll be promoted and made rich, but He has assured us that He’s in control of all circumstances and that He will write the last chapter of the story. If God doesn’t promote us here on earth, He certainly will when we get to glory.

The Character of False Teachers (v. 15)
Testing the Messengers (vv. 16–20)
No Straight Gate
No Disturbing Doctrines
The Test of Good Works
So What?
The real test of any teaching is: Does it strengthen a man to bear the burdens of life, and to walk in the way wherein he ought to go?”
If we put these things together—whether or not there is a straight gate in the message, whether or not the unpleasant themes of sin and judgment are dealt with along with the message of God’s great love and grace, whether or not there is real and satisfying fruit as a result of such teaching—then we have a way of discerning truth from falsehood and of giving attention only to that message which comes from the Lord.
